About Marlee

Adoption Fee: $500
Australian Cattle Dog / Border Collie
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Marlee was 2 in October and is 33 pounds. She loves to play, watch birds, go for rides in the car, hike, swim, you name it! She needs a job to do and enjoys training with me. I have been doing everything to integrate her in all situations (hiking, wander small towns, eat outdoors at a restaurant with her, take her shopping, paddle boarding, car rides everywhere). She knows sit, down, place, middle, heel, loose leash walking, watch me, she sits at all doors before she walks through, sleeps in her crate and also uses a crate in the car, and so much more! Here is a link to pics and videos of playtime and training: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZUAQ7pm37bNR57ms8 What you must know: Marlee was not socialized prior to me adopting her (October 2020), so I quickly noticed fear aggression in her. She reacted to cars, dogs, cats, and even me a bit. I enrolled her in a top notch training program and have been working with her endlessly. She is like a service dog in terms of obedience, but I do not let her interact with most dogs or people because it's uncertain who she will trust (dogs must be aloof and independent, people must not force themselves on her - let her come to you). Even still, when she is on a leash, she is considered in training with me, so I do not let anyone pet her in stores or anywhere. She is fine with my cat (not snuggle buddies, but they do get very close to each other and coexist nicely), and has been around my sister's 3 cats. She was given up by her last home because she herded the kids, so I will not rehome her to a family with kids. You must have training and working dog experience, as this breed needs consistent training and stimulation. Update 2/24/22: Marlee has snarled at me in the past when I approached her while laying on her bed. I know it's fear, so I let her come to me instead of me approaching her. What is new is this past weekend she snarled and bit me. She didn't harm me, but you must know this if you are considering adopting her. I firmly believe it's because I was in her space too much, but you need to know this happened. She does not snarl outside with me, only inside, and only when she is in a submissive position. I have been trying to rehome her, but haven't found a suitable home. I am rehoming her because I did not realize how much continuous training and new challenges this breed needs. I have health issues and I am constantly run down and struggling so it's hard for me to maintain this level of dedication to her training. Please reach out with any questions.
