Oliver was born May 19, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK. We purchased him with a clean bill of health. On the way back to California, Oliver developed a limp and we had to stop in Phoenix at an emergency Veterinarian Hospital because his left front leg swelled. After x-rays, blood work and examination, the diagnosis was Panosteitis. We were told he would grow out of it. After several months of watching him continue to limp. We had him examined again and was referred to a specialist. His growth plate is not functioning properly. The specialist has suggested cutting the ulna in order to release the pressure on the other bone which has bowed (you can see in the picture that his left leg sticks out). He may never be 'normal', but the procedure should reduce the pain the leg has been causing. The proposed procedure is about $7,000.00. The other option is amputation. Our situation is such that neither option is feasible at this time. If there is someone out there who has the circumstances to follow through with either surgery and provide Oliver with the love and care he needs, we would be grateful not to have this sweet boy go to sleep so soon. His disposition is awesome. The Veterinary staff love him as we do! He loves to play fetch. He will sit and be patient waiting for his food until we say 'OK'. He has a very lovable personality. If you are looking for an absolutely great companion and can extend the help he needs, please contact us. Thank you.
