About Curtis

Meet Curtis!! This poor guy has been through hell at the hands of humans and yet his only goal in life is to give and receive love from people. Curtis was mauled by dogs AND shot twice. His owner then left him there to die, injured and in pain. Thankfully animal control found him. He spent almost a month at the vet recovering. He almost didn't make it but he's a survivor. He's got some scars but hey, chicks dig scars right ����%9D%A4��%8F He is a very short 'pocket pittie' type pitbull. He is a tiny thing in person. Hes approx 5 years old and weighs 40 pounds. Curtis will be neutered, vaccinated and microchipped as part of his adoption. He LOVES all people. He's a little bundle of love that wants to be your shadow. He's an expert cuddler and will lay around all day with you if you want. He's also ready to go when you want to be active. He is down to do whatever you're doing. Even if he's afraid he will try for you. You want a dog that's 100% devoted to you then he is your boy. Curtis is potty trained and does okay on the leash. He pulls a bit at times. Car rides he does great on. He is crate trained but he's not a fan of that. He will bark and cry for a bit but he does settle down. He really doesn't like to be away from you. He is still a bit shy around other dogs but who could blame him after what he went through. He is not at all aggressive with other animals. We have been working on him with other dogs and he does well with proper introductions. A calmer very friendly dog would be best for him. He has not yet met any cats. He's super loving with all people and we think he would do great with kids but have not tested him with very tiny humans yet. Curtis has a medium energy level. He's very cuddly and lazy but also loves to go on adventures and run around the yard. He can be very enthusiastic about being with you and getting all your love so that can be a bit imposing at times. He has no idea what personal space is! He is learning though. He does love his toys. He has a little monkey toy he got at the vet that he carries around. It's really precious �%9D%A4��%8F He does have some minor muscle damage from his injuries. He can walk and run just fine but has some weakness at times. When you see his scars you can see the damage that was done. We are thankful he has the range of motion he does have and it may improve over time as he recovers. It does not stop him from doing anything a normal dog can do. Curtis has shown no issues sharing food toys or treats with people. He hasn't been living with another dog yet but has not shown any protective behavior when meeting them. We aren't sure he was ever an indoor dog before he got here. He's overcoming a lot of fears. He was scared of hardwood floors and overcame it in just two days but still won't walk down the hallway part of the house. He will get there. It's just all new. Overall everyone that meets Curtis loves him. He has a contagious personality. You just can't help but to love this guy!! Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA.
