About Kona

Kona is a smart, energetic companion. She is up to date on her medical and weighs about 37 pounds. She was adopted after her birth in October 2017 from a working ranch family in Ione, CA. Her breed is Australian Cattle Dog from her father, and Border Collie from her mother. She leans more toward the Cattle Dog Heeler temperament. Our family had tried to have a baby for over 10 years. Due to our infertility we decided to get a dog. We knew her breed would not be good for a family with small children. A year after Kona's adoption, to our surprise we were gifted with a baby. We now have a toddler and an overly attentive cattle dog. Kona through no fault of her own is now in an environment that is not a good fit for her breed. We need to find a home without small children for her. She previously lived with 2 teenagers, and 2 cats. Kona did exhibit natural nipping and herding tendencies with the cats. She is chipped, crate trained, smart as a whip. She loves frisbee, fetch, going for walks. She is nervous around larger dogs, but acclimates once introduced. She is very receptive to training and has great hand command knowledge. We think she would do really well with a situation where she can bond strongly to a family member and be with that person as much as possible. She loves to be where you are.
