About Buddy

Adoption Fee: $100
Beagle / Bluetick Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

***UPDATE 1/28/22*** We had to bring Buddy back to the folks over at Saving Grace. His original tag name there was 'Anthony'. If you are still interested in adopting him, Please contact them at (919) 518-1180 or email them [email protected]. PLEASE consider making Buddy a part of your family. He really is a very sweet dog and he deserves a good home. About Buddy: He would do well in an open fenced in yard. He LOVES to sniff out animals. On our walks, his nose will be on the ground from the time we leave to the time we get home. I think he would thrive on a farm and woodsy areas. If you hunt, I'm certain you can get him to find for you. Buddy is very smart. We have done training with him at PetSmart and he has responded well, picking up on commands quickly. He still has some work to do on the leash but I think that is more of him wanting to find critters. He knows not to go after squirrels but wants to catch a rabbit one day. He sleeps perfectly fine in his crate every night, and stays in there no problem if we need to leave for extended periods of time. He does well with other dogs in the neighborhood and always wants to play with them. He has been good with our kids but think he would be better off in a home with out young children because he can play rougher than he should. The only thing we worry about with Buddy is he is very skittish. We didn't get any information on his life before the shelter so unfortunately we don't know what situation he came from. Loud noises make him jumpy -making our walks on garbage day very brief (he's smart enough to see the garbage cans and go immediately to the back yard to do his business). He'll bark when people come to the door and needs to be leashed so he doesn't run outside. Vet records (Banfield) available upon request. He is current on all vaccinations and gets monthly heartworm treatment. Overall he's a little rough around the edges and still needs some training but is a good boy. I need to find him a home soon or we would need to surrender him to a shelter and I want to avoid that at all costs. A nominal rehoming fee applies to ensure he goes to a good home.
