Meet Henry, a handsome 3-year-old piebald dachshund! Henry is doing very well with the 3 other dogs in his foster home. We think he would do well with other dogs, but slow introductions would be best. He's doing okay with the 3 cats but has shown interest in them so continued monitoring and training in this area would be necessary. So far, the leave it commands and the beep (NO shocking) mode on an e collar seem to be working well. He has been great with the humans in the home and loves snuggling under the blankets on foster mom and dad's laps. He has shown typical dachshund protective/territorial behavior when he is in his comfortable snuggling lap position, and he is disturbed. He will bark and growl so continued work on this behavior will be necessary. The beep or vibrate mode on the e collar along with a stern NO seem to help. We have not seen him around kids but would recommend no children under the age of 10. He loves playing with toys and will even take a toy under to covers with him. He likes his treats too which helps with training. He's learned to sit and wait for a treat. Continued work on basic commands would be beneficial for him overall. He is housebroken and goes outside on a leash very well. Henry is a sweet and smart boy that has the total personality of a dachshund. An experienced dachshund adopter would be best for Henry as dachshunds do have a personality of their own. Henry is currently fostering in St. Clairsville, OH and his adoption fee is $375.00.
