About Renly

LOCATION: Danforth, Illinois (AGE: 4 years) Renly is a great boy and is doing well adjusting to his new life. He is currently not neutered but is scheduled for April. He loves a good snooze like the rest of us but is by no means lazy! He LOVES to be outside and even likes the snow! He is crate and leash trained and has had basic obedience classes. He previously lived with large dogs, a small dog, a small child and cats ( indoor and outside/barn). I'm told smaller dogs are better for Renly and he was protective of the child. He is currently doing well overall with the many different cat personalities he is living with but does best with and prefers the ones that aren't overly concerned with him. No livestock/farm animals for him though. So far he hasn't been too interested in toys and he is not a big chewer - going outside, walks and naps are more his thing. He is very food and treat motivated and is definitely not a picky eater! He can be a little possessive of 'his' stuff so he is fed separately, in his crate, which also keeps him resting after eating. He has learned to sit very nicely though while I get his food ready. He does well in the car and was very good at his first vet appointment with the other animals and people all around. He is strong and likes to take the lead but does well with positive, consistent reinforcement that he is actually not in charge. He is a bit of a talker and will let you know when he needs - or just wants- something, usually to go outside! He is a good boy that has done well so far adjusting to a major life change.
