About Maverick

We are very sad to be writing this but we are looking to rehome our recent rescue dog, Maverick. We are being fully transparent with anyone interested that he is being rehomed due to aggression. His main issue is resource guarding and he recently began aggressively guarding my husband from me which has led us to this decision. He will not let me near Cody. We have consulted behaviorists, sent him to a board and train program, and tried everything to create the right environment for him and the aggression only continued to get worse as he aged. He is a wonderful dog that loves to be outside and we believe he could make an excellent farm or hunting dog. He naturally points at birds and raccoons in our yard and wants to be outside running 24/7. He is an 11 month old Redbone Coonhound Mix. We were told he was mixed with beagle and Irish setter but cannot be sure. He weighs around 60 pounds and is smart as a whip. He did wonderfully in obedience training for basic commands. He is neutered and has all shots and I have all of his records. Unfortunately, he just will not make a great family dog and cannot be trusted around children. He loves other dogs when resources are not available for guarding. We totally adore him and want to find the right environment for his temperament. We will be taking an adoption fee to donate to a rescue of our choice.
