About Missy

Missy is a darling dog, loves to run and play with other dogs, comes when she's called, and is housetrained! (A miracle in my house of old pugs!) She came to me from a family friend whose mom had to unexpectedly enter a nursing home. Missy was the mom's dog. There was talk among the family about putting Missy down, so I went and got her immediately. That was about 5 months ago. She is up-to-date with her vacinations and I can provide the vet records. Weight is about 14 pounds. Initially when she arrived Missy was very shy and especially concerned when entering and exiting exterior doors; don't know what caused that, perhaps some bad experience in her past. But she soon got over it. Also, initially she was very shy of men, but that has subsided as well. Now when my male partner sits down, she immediately jumps up on the furniture and puts her head on his lap. When she arrived her tummy by her back legs hung down considerably. But with daily walks that has completely disappeared, and she now looks fit and trim! My dogs get quite a bit of exercise with 1-2 mile walks in the hills above my house every day EXCEPT when there is snow on the ground. The little feet cannot tolerate the cold snow. Perhaps as a result of being homebound for a good month in Helena and bored, Missy has become a bit aggressive toward some of the old and fragile pugs. There is one old male, about her same size, who she actually shook by the scruff of his neck when I was out of the house today for about 2 hours. Th evidence is tufts of black hair on the floor and a tender-to-the touch neck on the old guy. She does have a sweet disposition other than this one issue. I think she would be fine in a house with bigger dogs, especially if they take walks. I should point out that her 1-2 mile daily walks have been exclusively off-leash in an area completely free of cars and she never goes far and checks back in with rubs regularly.
