About Benji

This is Benji. He is a 1 1/2 year old great dane/mastiff mix. We got him about a month and a half ago. We were not aware of some of the issues that he has. He is a huge sweetheart and once he gains your trust, he is willing to learn and will be your best companion. He has great manners inside the house, crate trained, and does basic commands. He's also very good with children, he's just unaware of his size and tends to knock small ones over. His downfall is that he is reactive with people and other dogs. He gets extremely overwhelmed when outside and if he gets even close to another dog, his first reaction is to charge. This can be changed with the right amount of training and patience. We are still continuing to train and practice with him but he needs a lot of work outside in real situations. As his caretaker, I am no longer the right person to provide that as he is strong and isn't just for anybody. He needs someone to spend that perfect amount of time to teach and expose him to situations so that he does get better and lives happily.
