About Rooney

!!URGENT!! Rooney is a gorgeous pit bull and greyhound mix with beautiful honey-colored eyes and a brindle coat. Rooney was a favorite at Baldwin Park Shelter when he first arrived in June of 2021. His owner surrendered him, and Rooney was so heartbroken he stayed in the corner of his kennel for weeks. Slowly but surely, volunteers worked with him to help him trust people again. Eventually he wagged his tail and got so excited when volunteers would come to see him and take him out to play. He would play fetch, do some tricks for treats, and give SO much affection as he was so happy to get some love. He is such a sweet boy and would make a family so happy. Rooney was eventually transferred to Downey Shelter (HIGH KILL RATE shelter) in November to give him more time to find his forever home, and volunteers were so sad to see him go but hoped he would have a better chance there. The volunteers at Downey have also fallen in love with him, but unfortunately no one has adopted him for the two months he has been there. He is now VERY URGENT as he has been in the shelter system too long, and he is at risk of being euthanized very soon if he does not find an adopter or foster-so this is an EMERGENCY! Adopters, Fosters, and Rescues are welcome to save Rooney's life.
