About Ivy

IVY is a young female husky mix. She is about one year old and weighs about 70 pounds. She was found on the edge of town in Levelland and was probably dumped out there. She has been taken into foster care, checked for heartworm, checked and treated for tick fever, has been spayed and is current on shots. She needs to find a forever home now and is available for adoption. Ivy is an affectionate dog and should be good with adults and children of all ages. She should be good with most dogs; she currently lives with five other dogs, four of them female. She enjoys playing with the younger ones and respects the older ones and gets along well with them too. We have not seen Ivy with cats. If potential adopters have cats, she should be introduced to them slowly and carefully while on a leash. She will probably do well with them if carefully introduced. We know most people will consider huskies to be outdoor dogs and Ivy can spend a lot of time outdoors and be happy. But she also loves human interaction and shouldn't be left outside all the time. She has a long, thick coat and will tolerate cool weather better than hot, but she should be brought in during extremely cold weather. In the summer she should have good shade and plenty of water when she is outside. If at all possible, she should be allowed to sleep inside, maybe in a garage or a laundry room. In her foster home, she has slept in a heated shed part of the time and in the house part of the time. She has been a chore to toilet train but we think we are there now. She has not made a mistake in the house or the shed in several days and should be good in her forever home. Ivy loves to come in and hang out, watch TV and just visit in her foster home and we hope that can continue in her forever home. We are asking a $125 adoption fee for Ivy, to offset some of her medical expenses and to insure that her adopting family is committed to giving her a good home for the rest of her life.
