Bernard is a 1.5 year old, playful, fully house & crate-trained Australian Shepherd mix. He's fully socialized, good with kids over 12, off-leash trained, loves walks, playing fetch and playing with other dogs (big and small.) He has not been exposed to other animals like cats, birds or reptiles for us to know if he gets along with them though. He is neutered, microchipped, healthy and up to date on all vaccines. He can be excitable especially if he hasn't walked or played in a while and is a little protective and will bark at strangers or someone unknown approaching the home. Bernard was found in the woods of North Carolina and after relocating to Los Angeles in August '21 he has made it apparent that he hates living in an apartment and needs a home with a yard. Despite continued training and mutliple-times-a-day walks and dog park play sessions it never seems to be enough for him. He is used to having a yard where he could chill all day long - eating sticks and playing with his doggy neighbor friends. Since moving here into a much smaller, yardless apartment in August '21 he has progressively communicated that the apartment is not suitable for him. Of course I'd hoped the move would work out for him but after working with a trainer, behavioral therapist and our vet it is obvious that he needs and deserves a home with a yard. This is not something I can provide for him anytime soon. It is heartbreaking to think of parting ways with him but he really deserves to be happy and I know that more space will give him just that. Bernard loves to cuddle and is a true love bug. He just needs a yard and more space to be truly at ease. Before releasing him to a new home we will need to ensure that you have a fenced yard!
