About Poe

Poe is a special needs dog that was rescued from a bad situation by a caring person. He can not stay there. We are assisting the caretaker in finding him the proper home. He is located in Indianapolis. Please put in an application and we will forward to his caretaker. There is no adoption fee, however references will be checked to make sure he goes to the right home. Applications are not first come first serve.�%A0 Poe is approx 1year old and 65 lbs. He is white with brown patch on bottom and tail. Dogo Argentino/Pit mix (we think); completely DEAF and visually impaired in both eyes, (the hazel one worse than the ice blue one). House-broken, crate-trained, UTD on vaccines, heartworm negative, neutered. This big goofball needs a 4ever home/foster ASAP. He's completely deaf w/ significant visual impairment. He makes up for this w/ good-morning hugs to all of us. He loves all people & dogs, & is superbly fascinated with cats (chases but not aggressive when catches). Poe LOVES to play w/ toys. He would be best as a single dog because he gets highly overstimulated & his play eventually turns rough. An experienced deaf-dog owner/trainer might be able to integrate him into a multiple dog household, though. His energy and clumsiness make him unsuitable for small children or disabled adults. He's super smart, learning�%A0sign language for sit in 20 seconds & now does it w/o the signal for: treat, dinner, leash & door. He's seriously curious & fine on a leash (PULLS), isn't food aggressive at all, snores like you would not believe & loves loves loves. PERFECT in a car!
