About Phoenix

Phoenix is a very sweet and kind Belgian Malinois mix. I recently rescued her from a local animal rescue. The first night she was with us she jumped our fence and ran off. Fortunately an officer caught her two days later and we brought her back home. She is very cautious and a little nervous which makes her flight response even higher. She is very good with our other dogs and is friendly to people. I believe she would be perfect in a home that could take the time that she needs to gain confidence and she needs to bond with someone. She would need a very structured routine with training to keep her energy level down. She needs to be on a leash at all times unless in the house. She jumped our tall fence so she also needs a covered pen or shelter due to her flight response and wanting to be free. We believe she has always lived on the streets and had puppies at one point. She is going to be a great dog for someone that wants a working dog and that can give her the time she needs. I wish I was able to do that but when we rescued her we did not realize how much time she really needs. We do not want to bring her back to the shelter because I am afraid she will go right back into the same cycle. I believe she has been adopted out several times and has run away each time. I want to give her the best chance at life and make sure she has the right owner and home to flourish in. I don't trust the rescue to do that for her.
