About OTTER

Golden Retriever mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

***OTTER NEEDS REHOMING*** Kimberly, ID Will be a wonderful companion and much-loved pet for people who have no other pets and a quieter lifestyle. OTTER is a healthy 4 year old, neutered boy who looks like a golden retriever but is a mixed breed that was adopted from a shelter in October 2020. OTTER is extremely sweet and cuddly, relatively gentle, quiet, and calm, and loves nothing more than to be right next to his humans. OTTER is friendly with all people that he knows. He will bark/growl at repair people that visit the home. He loves playing with toys and games with his people. OTTER is good loose in the home when his people are away. OTTER has been formerly trained in group sessions and private positive training. He knows all basic obedience commands and a handful of fun tricks. He is crate-trained, potty-trained, and walks politely on a leash (mostly!). He does well riding in a car. For a larger dog, he does fine without a lot of exercise. OTTER will chase squirrels and birds. His occasional 'bad habits are counter-surfing, whining, and leash reactivity. He has barked madly when he has been around commotion (e.g., running or yelling by children). To help OTTER find a family that will love him as much as his current owner and will provide an environment where he can relax and be happy without any incidents with other dogs (e.g., reactivity over food and chews), she is providing all of his toys, treats, supplies, etc. with his rehoming. WHY REHOMING: OTTER is being rehomed because of some lifestyle changes (i.e., living in San Francisco part-time and part-time with family who have dogs) and the owner believes that it would be in OTTER's best interest if he's in a home where his best qualities can come out and he's not constantly either put in situations where something bad could occur or separated from the family by himself.
