About Azula

Adoption Fee: $200
Siberian Husky / German Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Hello everyone! Please meet Azula - a sweet and very loving Husky German-Shepherd mix. I am looking for a new quiet, safe home for Azula. I get stopped all the time when we are at dog parks or walking on the street with comments about how beautiful she is-and she is also friendly and affectionate. The vet has estimated Azula to be 5 or 6 years old and is in great health. I received her when she was 50 pounds and is now nearly 60 pounds - the target weight for her breed and age. She also contracted heartworm from her prior rescue where I met her, but is now fully treated - using the fast-kill injection approach and heartworm medicine - and she is smiling bigger than she ever has. She is in excellent health and totally current on all vaccinations. After months of trying to alter my lifestyle, I've realized that she needs a different environment that better meets her needs where she can be fully comfortable. I adopted another dog at a similar time to Azula thinking they could keep each other company due to my busy lifestyle, and, even after many months of professional training with multiple trainers, they are not compatible. During her heartworm treatment recovery, she temporarily stayed with one of my friends and it became clear that there are certain environmental characteristics that are best for her: No other dogs in the home Quiet home with little activity (likely better without small kids) Owner is home most of the time during the day and does not travel much Owner does not have parties or large groups of people often Large, fenced-in yard Azula is an incredible dog and deserves the perfect home where she can live her perfect life. She had a terribly difficult history where she was abandoned by her first owners, left to nearly starve to death in their backyard. Then, she was taken to a foster home with about 10 other dogs. That home caught on fire and she was only one of two survivors of the fire. The story struck a chord with me immediately, and it's very tough to have to say goodbye. If there is anyone out there that can offer Azula a home, please reach out. This has been the toughest decision of my life, it really breaks my heart to have to let her go but I just want the best for her. Please do not reach out offering animal behavior advice and or tips on how to make the situation work - everything has been tried and all options exhausted and I have come to accept that my environment is not going to change significantly anytime soon and I want to be fair to Azula. If you can help Azula and offer her a forever, lovable and safe home please reach out to me via Facebook Messenger or email.
