Name: Meeko Age: Approximately 5.5 years old Breed: Australian Shepherd Sex: 28# Male (neutered) Location: Aiken, Aiken County, South Carolina Vet Information: Up to date on vaccinations and heartworm. Meeko is microchipped. He has been in the current owners care for about 2 months. Meeko is the result of merle to merle breeding so his vision is such that he can get around 'ok' but he does not see well. He was also born deaf. Meeko's right front paw turns out. It has been x-rayed and no visual sign of a previous fracture could be seen. While it still could have been the result of a long ago trauma, the vet seems to think it's the result of his poor breeding. Same for his 'shovel' jaw. Owner report: Meeko's was adopted from an all breed rescuer about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, the owner says that Meeko has had a difficult time getting acclimated to her larger dogs and son. She has owned Aussies for over 30 years, she mentions so she knows the breed well. With him the being so uncomfortable all the time, the owner does think it's better that Meeko is placed in a situation where he will be around a similarly sized dog so he is comfortable and feels safe. Meeko is described as an indoor dog with run of the house. He is also leash trained and responds to basic commands. Meeko is described as uncomfortable around larger dogs but overall outgoing and good with men, women, other dogs and cats. He would do very well with another dog his size. Meeko's owner reports Meeko is a super dog that settled right in, having no issues learning his way around. He has wonderful leash manners, loves to ride, extremely low energy, crate trained, totally trust-worthy in the house when left alone, loves to snuggle in the bed.
