About Shy

I'm sure all fosters feel this way about their charges but Shy truly is a special girl. Her name may seem to suit her at first, but once she knows she's yours and comes out of her shell, it isn't fitting at all. Shy is curious, playful, sweet, and a little mischievous. She loves to play and will be her new family's fearless adventure partner. She wants to do everything her people do be it a long hike, camping, exploring, or cuddling on the couch. Up for anything, Shy isn't for someone looking to make the time at home a little less lonely, she's for someone looking for a life partner. Given a choice, Shy is never more than a few feet away from her people. A certified Velcro dog, Shy is looking for someone who will share their life with her and she will revel in the joy of every second spent with her people/person. She has slight separation anxiety (barking and jumping at windows) when left loose but does extremely well in a kennel. She hasn't been exposed to cats but has a strong prey drive and likely wouldn't do well with them. She gets along with all humans but needs a slow controlled introduction. On leash she can be reactive to strange dogs but has loved my three from the second I brought her home. She was abused using confinement at a young age but with a slow controlled introduction, she acclimates well to new situations. I've had Shy for a few months now and to see her brave little soul emerge and begin to shine through the trauma of her past abuse has truly been a joy. She is a completely different dog from the anxious little creature that I brought home, and I have no doubt that adopting her will be one of the best decisions her new family will make in their lifetime.
