About DAVE

Adoption Fee: $400
American Staffordshire Terrier / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Dave is a 3 yr old, 40 lb, Male Staffordshire Terrier Mix/Lab/blind in 1 eye Dave is currently located in South Texas and will be transported to the Pacific Northwest. Hi. My name is Dave. My foster momma calls me One-Eyed Dave, Mr. Dave, or Mr. Floof. I'm an awesome, severely handsome pittie/lab mix, and I'm the ultimate guy%BD'%BD|once you get to know me. I have lots of energy. It took me awhile to trust my people but now I am loyal to them. I need your patience to get comfortable in my new surroundings. My foster parents didn't know if I had been on the streets for a really long time or if I was abused and neglected at a previous owner%BDs house or how I lost my eye. Either way, they gave me love and affection, provided me structure, and I am in a much better place today. I love my foster siblings - I'm the smallest one in our pack of 4. We have a good time together, especially out in the yard. I think I am king of the yard, and run around barking each time I get let out. I do enjoy romping around with other dogs that are bigger than me%BD'%BD|after I have been around them for a little while and feel comfortable with them. I really love rough housing with my toys. My foster dogs are all bigger than me and I seem to have too much interest in the cat so I need to not be around cats and we think smaller dogs. I have a lot of energy and can be a total goofball sometimes. Sometimes I have too much energy for my older siblings, and when they let me know they've had enough, I go and find something else to do. Once I was finally comfortable, I did a lot of dancing and slapping my paws on the ground and on my foster parents. I have to shake it out every time! I think she's going to start calling me Dancing Dave! I'm kennel trained, and house/potty trained. I am working on the leash, but I still think it's a little weird to walk on one. Treats are LIFE, just FYI. And I always let my foster parents know how much I love them when I see them. I do get protective when the doorbell rings because of past fears. I do like to growl and nip at new people because I still have fear from before. I also love to bury my food in my bed and blankets for later. My foster mom says I do this because I didn't know when my next meal would be before I was rescued. It drives her nuts! I have gotten more used to baths and will even wag my tail now. I definitely need fur parents that are understanding that I will need lots of time and love to trust them. My blind eye and deaf ear on one side always have me on the lookout and uncomfortable for longer than usual with new situations. I can't wait to meet you and learn new tricks, fetch all the toys, get some belly rubs, and give you all the love you could imagine! Our organization only adopts within the United States.
