About Maurice

See Maurice's new video here too!Maurice is a lover; he is a very gentle boy who shines with attention from his people - well, any people. Friends, neighbors, the postman. Everyone loves Maurice and says, 'What a beautiful dog.' He is one of the sweetest, most caring boxers I have met. He loves hugs and a good belly rub. In turn, you'll get kisses and a sweet, faithful friend who will be at your side wherever you go. Expect a lot of attention from this boy. Maurice would be either a good family dog or single-person companion; but he likes to be engaged with everyone he meets. He is loyal and becomes part of things and attaches very quickly. He spent two hours with his transporter from Jacksonville to Gainesville and seemed heartbroken when she left him. But then quickly became his foster mom's new best friend. Maurice is calm in the house but energetic on his walks; he likes nice long ones especially when he encounters neighbors and makes new friends. Maurice hasn't had much previous training but he is learning to sit, stay, walk on a leash, wait patiently at the door and stay off the furniture. He does have a stubborn, or maybe oblivious, streak probably because no one has ever worked with him and he just doesn't know what you expect from him. But he is smart and is catching on. A little food treat goes a long way though. He also enjoys a good chew treat and very much loves howling at the fire engines when they go by. Maurice is 7 years old and weighs 65 lbs.; he is housebroken, crate trained and is learning to walk well on a leash. He is good with other (calm) dogs and kids, but no kitties, please.
