Skittles is a sweet 10 week old mixed breed puppy (most likely some variation of herding dogs) rescued from Texas looking for a foster-to-adopt home within an hour of Ellicott City, Md. He has a mild case of ringworm, which is not a worm, it is a common fungus, treated with an oral prescription and over the counter simple medications, just takes some time. Meanwhile 10 weeks old is a crucial time for a young puppy-he needs more individual attention and socialization than he can have together with his littermates. Skittles has only a spot on his tail plus some on his face. Foster to adopt period is about a week until it is very apparent that the ringworm is healing. Application is required. We will be happy to discuss in more detail and answer all questions you may have. There is low risk of contagion involved but we will fully discuss with you. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word 'Adopt' at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter prior to the contracted date.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 4-6 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or, if they choose, to send verification from their own vet (at the adopter's own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging.
