About Kaya

Adoption Fee: $500
German Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Kaya (pronounced Ki-yuh) is up-to-date on all vaccinations including heartworm and flea/tick prevention. She comes from a champion bloodline at the Von Lindesfarne Kennel. She recently went through a rigorous two-week training bootcamp with Tip-Top K9 here in Michigan and has been trained with the Dogtra e-collar which she responds very well to. Kaya was diagnosed with EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) at age two and requires a special enzyme powder mixed in with her food. Without the powder she loses a significant amount of weight and is constantly hungry. She does not do well with other dogs (especially when on a leash) - she is very verbal but has never bitten another dog or person. Unfortunately she was attacked by another German Shepherd which we believe amplified her anxiety around other dogs. However, she is eager to please humans and loves human contact. We really want her to go to a family who wants to work with her daily and use her incredible drive and intelligence to the fullest, as we used to be able to do. She LOVES swimming and wide open spaces where she can run. She doesn't sit in one place for long. She is an incredible dog and just needs to be in an environment where she can thrive and use her natural abilities to the fullest. Kaya has been a huge part of our family for the past 5 years however now that we have young children we don't have the time to give her the attention she deserves and needs. Her next family must want to spend time playing and working with her on a daily basis.
