About Layla

Boxer
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Layla has been in her foster home for several weeks now, so we have updated info on her: NOTE: She came into rescue very thin weighing only 41 lbs. so has food and water guarding issues indoors with other dogs. NOTE: NO Cats...high prey drive. Watch out Squirrels and Bunnies! Layla here! Foster mom says I am finally coming out of my shell and no longer that unsure little dog. She says I am affectionate, playful, energetic and sweet and if I wasn't gray, she would think I was 2 yrs old! I have a lot of energy and like a pup, grab the leash on the way thru the house and out the door but then I get serious on our walk and look for any moving little creature. Boy I would love to chase them! I have to say I do walk pretty good on leash and at times I even prance. I love, love food. I have to have it all... in fact I don't even like it when Merlin (the resident boxer boy) comes in the kitchen since I know there is food there! I get very tense and run after him making sure he doesn't go to my water bowl even if it is empty or the mat where I eat. Even if there is no bowl or mat I am frantically following him on guard. Foster mom thought she would split us about six feet apart, make us sit and give us each a treat but as soon as we finished, I wanted to take off after Merlin to tell him ... Hey I wanted yours too! but foster mom had the slip lead and now I have to stay in the crate in the kitchen when Merlin comes in the room. I was told I have to learn to share. I don't mind waiting in the crate, cause we get treats as food is made...as long as we are good! As far as people I am fine with them moving my bowl, scraping the sides, even petting me. Hey I may get more food! ... I just don't trust dogs. Foster mom and dad say it is 'a product of my past environment' whatever that means! Hey...got no dogs? Check out my cute face! I would love to be yours. Just so you know ahead of time...I love soft treats. Not too keen on those hard ones but you know its food so I will take it. I will be available to go home soon since my surgery is this Wednesday to remove those ugly growths that the vet feels are cosmetic. Check out the video below...you wouldn't know I couldn't walk last week from lyme symptoms (which I am on meds for). I would love to be the only dog so I can have all your attention and all the food! Want all my attention and love too? Just fill out the application and maybe we will be matched to have a beautiful life together!
