About Mrs Moo Gump

Adoption Fee: $300
Corgi / Bernese Mountain Dog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Mrs Moo Gump is now ready for her furever home! What can we say about this girl other than she is perfection in dog form? Moo was given that name by the shelter because it's the sound she makes when she barks. Those barks are extremely rare occasions! Moo was on death row right before Thanksgiving when we saw her. At first glance, we didn't see Corgi and then we saw those adorable stumpy and very Corgi legs attached to the head of a Bernese Mountain dog! Moo acts more like a Bernese than a Corgi. She's super mellow. Nothing bothers her and recently she's shown interest in playing with the other dogs! She does get food motivation from her Corgi heritage but sits nicely for treats. When Moo was at the shelter for 3 weeks, the vet staff said they believed she had an inguinal hernia. She also looked like she had swollen mammary glands and possibly a mass. We got her into foster in Austin and soon scheduled her for pre-op exam and x-rays with our vet. I got a call from the vet tech and she sounded very strange. She told me that Moo did indeed have a hernia in the inguinal area but she also had 4 growths - 4 puppies that is! Moo was pregnant? How did the shelter miss that? How did we miss that?? Of course this all happened on a Friday and our vet wasn't sure how far along she was but at least 50 days. If she went into labor with that puppy inside the inguinal hernia, Moo could bleed out before she got to a vet. To makes matters worse, most of the emergency vets in Austin chose that weekend to be out of town. Thankfully we found a vet in San Antonio who could get her in the following Monday for an emergency C-section and spay. Moo did great but her puppies were 10 days premature. She had 2 boys and two girls. One boy and one girl survived and are thriving today! Since Moo didn't go through natural labor, she rejected her pups and said her single mom days were behind her. So off to her foster she went. We could tell Moo was feeling so much better now that she had the hernia repaired. She now will walk on leash and is much more alert and enjoying life. She has even started to engage in play with her fur foster brother and sister. It's easy to know when Moo is happy because you can hear her tail thump thump thump. Moo is 44 lbs, spayed, 3 years old, current on vaccines and heart worm prevention. She has had her staples removed but still has some mammary swelling. She's obviously had several litters before and so she's a little saggy baggy in her undercarriage. That will all reduce as time passes but will likely still have that extra skin Moo is so loving! So loyal! So sweet! So ready for her perfect furever home!
