**WE ONLY DO HOME VISITS FOR ADOPTIONS NEAR BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** PLEASE READ HIS FULL BIO BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT! Happy boy Harrison is eager to win your heart! Harrison was turned over to the police and was on his way to a kill facility if we didn't step up to save him. He has lower lumbar paralysis, meaning he can't use his rear legs. He is also bladder and bowel incontinent, so his bladder needs to be manually expressed 4 plus times a day. His bowel movement release on its own and you can manually speed the process most of the time. Harrison has no idea he is injured! He happily plays fetch and lives each day to the fullest. He is a wonderful companion for someone willing to keep up with his needs. We are looking for that special person to see past his limitations and fall in love with his very deserving spirit. His previous people did get him the spinal surgery but didn't seem to do rehab. He's been receiving acupuncture, laser therapy, physical therapy and aqua therapy with a group of specialists who have trained us how to continue his therapy at home. He has also had I-Therm therapy which has helped and various alternative techniques with temporary affects. He shows signs of feeling from his paws and he has positive reactions to therapy. He sometimes uses his legs by showing strength. We are hopeful he will walk with continued home therapy. Harrison is an absolutely adorable little guy is only 3 years old and 8 pounds. He has wheels that he can do his zoomies around the house and he travels well in the car! He is always ready to meet people. We are looking for a home for him who can keep up with his monthly grooming and heartworm prevention as well as daily health care and maintenance. His adoption fee is $200 to go towards his vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/Ehrlichia/Lyme test, fecal test, pre-op blood work, dental cleaning, microchip, and all his therapy/rehab). If you feel you can fulfill Harrison's needs he will drown you with kisses and his fantastic personality! Check his VIDEO PLAYLIST . Please Like & Follow his FaceBook Page. WWW.GETALIFEPETRESCUE.COM MORE INFO ON HARRISON: Harrison has a wonderful personality and is energetic despite his paralysis. Harrison is a joy but may seem like a lot of work, until you get used to his routine it is not a burden. You need the time, love, and patience. He needs his bladder expressed every 4-6 hours in the day but NOT AT NIGHT. He is active and drinks so he needs his bladder released more often. YouTube videos on how to release his bladder and I didn't hear from you. Here is one technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8kuOD2Iup4 We put him on the lawn or over a pee pad and bend over him standing. You need to keep your feet away from his stream if urine. Inevitably you will get wet from time to time. Once you have your fingertips on each side of the bladder it will feel like a water balloon. Then press your fingers together until the urine is released. Then go back and reposition your fingers 3-4 times to find smaller balloons until the bladder is completely empty. He poops on his own, you will find poop in his bed or when he is excited he will release it. He is on supplements to help promote stimulation. Harrison can't be crated or penned up because he will stress and he needs to scoot around without bruising his belly and legs. He loves his orthopedic bed with his toys on it. When you are home and he is active, he can be in his wheels but once he settles he needs to be in his drag bag that enables him to scoot around to follow you and then relax while you are doing household tasks. The dragbag protects his legs from getting scratched but it is not padded to protect him from bruising. He needs a calm groomer that will never leave him on the table because he will try to jump off. He doesn't like his face groomed and can get nippy. We use Kim at Angel Paws in Sunrise and she is used to grooming him with all his wiggles. He is fun and loves to meet people. If you have the time and finances to care for him long term please give let me know. We do home visits near Broward & Palm Beach Counties. In order to do an adoption and he will need several visits for you to get used to his needs. Harrison needs a couple of days of training and we would like to have his potential adopter care for him for a day to see if they are really dedicated to him.
