About Chester

Adoption Fee: $250
Dachshund / Chihuahua
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Chester is a friendly, loyal, playful, energetic, and fun, 18-month-old, 13-pound, male, wire-haired Dachshund-mix looking for a loving guardian. This boy is dog selective and hasn't spent a lot of time with other canines. He can be reactive to other dogs while on leash. He has guarding issues in the home with his favorite people, food, treats, and bones. He loves all toys, but he can be possessive of those as well. He will do best in an all-adult household - without children because he has been known to nip. Chester is looking for a true dog-lover who will devote themselves to a dog who will devote himself right back. This adorable and goofy dog needs training and management, but he's perfectly housebroken and is eager to learn and please - especially when treats are involved. He's surprisingly strong on leash; he pulls with all of his 13 pounds. He would love a house with a yard! Chester is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. He just started taking Prozac to help him relax in nerve-wracking situations. His foster mom reports that it is helping. This medication costs only $15 for six weeks of treatment. To meet and possibly adopt Chester, please fill out an application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-cat-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting [email protected] His adoption fee of $250 benefits rescued pets and includes all his worldly belongings. Chester is being fostered in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.
