About Dixon

Siberian Husky mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This post is going out with a prayer that there is that special person for Dixon. I know she is out there , maybe you are reading this right now . We are looking for a single female or females for Dixon or a very gentle man . Husky/ Shepard Mix or Husky Rotti mix he looks . URGENT - FOSTER or ADOPTER NEEDED BY 12/30 This 2.5 y/o fluffy guy was within hours of being euthanized when he was saved. Once in a temp foster home, we learned he had some issues and needed professional training. In October, we invested nearly $2k to send him to a board-and-train facility where he has done really well and received excellent reports. Now, the facility desperately needs him to go to a foster or adopter so another pup in need of being euthanize can come in after Christmas. Here's what you need to know about Dixon: The Challenges: Dixon is very wary of men and will need to wear a basket muzzle (which he is now trained to happily use) when meeting new men and until he trusts and feels comfortable around them. He can be in a home with female dogs that are social and easy-going and medium to large in size. He does have a prey drive so he should not be in a home with small dogs or cats. The Good!: First and foremost, Dixon is very affectionate, attention-seeking, and eager to please! His trainer describes him as very sweet, and very smart! He now knows all his commands, including 'place' (he is even trained not to go on furniture). He is crate trained but also not destructive when he's not crated. He doesn't resource-guard, he's quiet (not a big barker), and has good leash manners. He's very content to play outside in the yard and doesn't try to climb fences or escape! And, he's fine on leash when passing by other dogs, horses, and even deer. Dixon's Ideal Home/Environment: -Primarily female resident/s in the home -Experienced foster/adopter that can maintain a calm, structured environment as he is now used to functioning within a routine, and who is comfortable utilizing a basket muzzle when introducing him to men -Either no other pets *or* a med-large female dog that is social and easy-going -No small dogs or cats -No young children (respectful and calm older kids only) Please help us give this deserving boy the opportunity for continued success that he needs. His life was worth saving and if you open your heart and home to give him a chance, we'll know you'll agree! Note: Dixon's board-and-training facility is located in NC so he will be transported to his foster or adoptive home.
