About Zeke

We have a two year old great dane. He is definitely a velcro dog when it comes to Momma. He doesn't really enjoy being alone, he likes to be with the crowd. He is fully potty trained, always done really well in that department. Can sit, paw and high five, never could get the lay down command. He enjoys toys, especially stuffed toys, blankets and drinking from the faucet. Does not enjoy being in a crate, slobbers every where and crys and barks. Does very well being left out. Last May we had him outside and a neighborhood kid walked up and Zeke lunged at him when he tried to pet him and the kid ended up getting six stitches in his forehead. Since then my fear of that happening again has put a strain on our house hold. Last February we got fully custody of our two teenagers that are here full time now plus our youngest that is 6. Having there friends over is a struggle and causes alot of anxiety with the house. Our house isn't big enough to separate the dog and guests, so my kids are having to go without friends coming over which is really bothering me because I feel it's very important to watch over teens and friends. I would rather them be here with friends then out. Any time there is excitement in the house, rough housing or extreme laughter the dog thinks he needs to protect us, when it's just family hard telling what would happen if it was an outsider. Zeke loves playing with my youngest son but it gets dangerous when he gets the zoomies. Lol He really is a great, loving dog and I feel he deserves so much more. Someone that is more comfortable with bigger dogs and has the time to work with him. Last time he was weighed he was at 165, which has been some time as the last vet visit didn't go the greatest and now wife is nervous to take the dog in, husband has said he's not but hasn't, even though if asked numerous times. He won't let you cut his nails,,, instantly gets uncomfortable and shakes n fear. Vet even gave up last time.
