Adoption Fee: $150
Dachshund mix

Sex: Female

Foster location: Boise ID Breed: Dachshund/Terrier Mix Age: 8 Adoption Fee: $150.00 Spayed, Vaccinated, Microchipped If interested you must fill out an Adoption Application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ To our best guess Harlie is a dachshund/terrier mix and at least one of those was a wire-haired variety, as she does have the coat of a wire-haired breed. She came to Fuzzy Pawz when her family had a baby that Harlie didn't not get along with. This sweet little girl has some fear and insecurity issues that some people might interpret as aggression. Her foster home is working on gaining her some security and working with her on her issues. It will take a while for her to warm up to strangers and it was a couple days before she would approach her foster parents and allow them to pet her and even longer for her to feel comfortable in the home but still acts negatively to visitors in the house. For this the foster parents are kenneling her when company is expected and lets her out only after she settles down and is quiet. It might take several times of doing this before she will become accustomed to visitors in your home and it might have to be repeated for each visitor. A quiet home will be best for Harlie with no kids and one that doesn't have a lot of people coming and going. She loves going for walks and will play fetch once she accepts you. Harlie has some very cute mannerisms such as walking on her hind legs, and shaking hands and can be a bit independent. Unfortunately, she does beg at the table but with a gentle command she will go into the living area away from the table. She knows some commands and learns very quickly. In her foster home they have to spell words such as cheese and walks or she expects to receive them. Harlie's favorite pastime is spending time with her humans on the couch. Her former owners did all grooming at home due to her fear of strangers and her foster parents have continued to groom her. During her first vet visit when she came to Fuzzy Pawz she would not allow the vet near her so her appointment was rescheduled so that she could be given a mild sedative before being taken for her appointment. This calmed her enough so that she would allow the vet to update her vaccinations and check her over. She will need owners very knowledgeable, patient and willing to work with a positive rewards trainer to get Harlie to her full potential. She does well with other dogs but shows aggression towards cats.
