About Frankie

Adoption Fee: $350
Lab / Australian Kelpie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Looking for a playful agile partner? Or maybe a lap dog? Frankie could be any of those things. Frankie is a playful, athletic 10 month old mixed breed, currently about 45 pounds, expected to be about 50-60 pounds (our best guess is some lab, maybe some shepherd, maybe something like Australian kelpie). Rescued from the streets of Texas, she comes to Maryland looking for her forever home. You can see her intelligence just by the way she sits in front of you, waiting to see what you want next. Loving, housebroken, well behaved in the home, knows several basic commands, will learn quickly with consistency, older kids only as she is active, will need some manners training-a diamond in the rough. Loves playing with dogs-will make a wonderful partner for an active dog. Her ideal home would include a fenced yard and a playful confident dog, no young children please. Please be sure to read- Frankie also may be quite timid when you first meet her and she has some fearfulness that requires an experienced person to keep working with her (positive reinforcement rewards will make a big difference)-she will need some adjustment time in her new situation. Will need a patient experienced adopter that will give her the initial time she needs (read about 'two week shutdown' a common shelter recommendation that will make all the difference). Will make a wonderful running and hiking partner. Vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Send us an application if interested. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word 'Adopt' at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter if under 5 months. Puppies under 5 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 4-6 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or to send verification from their own vet (and own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on 'Adopt' tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment.
