About Chiquita

Chiquita is a sweet little girl whose life did not start out well. She deserves a good forever home after being abused and starved and ignored by her prior owner and then finally in a loud, scary animal shelter for 6 months before we rescued her. We think she is about 5 years old. She dances for treats on those long Italian Greyhound legs and prances when she walks! She would be super cute dressed up and walked on the blvd with a blingy leash and collar! She is ok with everyone she has met (4 and 2 legs alike). But she does like to establish herself as the top dog and would be happiest as an only dog or with a submissive male. She has no known history of aggression or destructiveness, and does not seem to get separation anxiety.She uses the doggy door too. We take her in the RV for drives and she does like to bark at people on the road she sees, mostly out of happiness. She has been getting crate trained, but can be stubborn about going in one. The ideal best ever home for her would be a retired person or one who travels a lot and takes her with them as an only dog, though in her testing with large dogs she is much more respectful and not as bossy. Chiquita has been tested with cats and is guarded when first meeting them unless the cat is relaxed and aloof, then she is too. She reminds me of a dog who likes cats but has learned to be cautious of them because of being beaten up at one time? If the cat is friendly though with a little time and trust, they could be friends. Do NOT let her near a litter box though because she seems to think it is a delicacy! The litter box needs to be in a high place or otherwise out of her reach.
