About Hans

Meet Hans! This big boy (although not oversized) is as loyal as they come and his owner tells us 'no one who will love you the way this dog does.' Sadly, she has to move to Texas for work and is unable to find a place to rent that will allow her to keep Hans. We got to meet this fella today and found a sweet boy who, although a little unsure at first, warmed up quickly. He's playful and free with the kisses too. He's very well trained and attentive to his owner, and has all the basics down pat, sat and downed easily for me and then showed me his tummy for scratches too. His owner told us that he can be afraid of strangers, especially men, and introductions must be done slowly. And while Hans has a couple of dogs he's lived with, he's very leash reactive with other dogs/dogs he doesn't know. He rides in the car well, but will bark at strangers who come by the car, and becomes very agitated if a dog comes near the car. His owner is currently unable to walk him due to his behavior when he sees another dog. He's had training with area trainers and does well, but his fearfulness/fear reactivity 'in the wild' will need time and training. Hans' favorite things are his people, his ball - 'ball is life,' and food - he's VERY good motivated with high value treats. His owner describes him as very smart and says he is so loving and affectionate. Hans will be 3 years old next month and is already neutered.
