About Hagrid

This handsome boy is doxie/Cavalier mix Hagrid, 6 years, 14 pounds. He's a bit of a complex character. Hagrid came to rescue from a Georgia shelter after his owner passed and was terrified there. He had a very tough time adjusting, though he made a good transition to his current foster home, took to both foster mom and dad. However, this took Hagrid about 3 weeks. So his new family must be on board being patient. He can be growly with people at the beginning or if not getting his way. He needs a very stable environment, not a lot of people coming and going, a definite routine. Hagrid may howl if left alone, so shared-wall living not for him. Hagrid is not a match for living with other dogs. He can be fine at times, will play, but can also show aggression. He does fine on leash, ignores anyone he sees while walking, dogs and people. And he has impeccable potty skills. He enjoys playing with soft, squeaky toys. He does enjoy an active lifestyle -- Hagrid is quite athletic, able to jump, climb baby gates, enjoys long walks. At home, Hagrid cuddles next to your feet and will follow you around joyfully.��%BD%A0 Hagrid knows several commands -- 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'out' and 'off.'��%BD%A0 He's now learning 'come'. Hagrid finds comfort, familiarity in his name.
