About Filia

This is my sweet girl, Filia. She is a blue heeler with an abundance of personality. We adopted her when she was about 6 months old. She was very fearful from the start, and somewhat aggressive with us, but we had hopes that we could rehabilitate her. We took her to the dog park, socialized her with people, and even hired a trainer to help. But after about 5 years, we're running out of options. She is great with just us, but with other people and dogs around, she becomes overstimulated, and creates trouble. Filia is fear aggressive. She is an absolute sweetheart when she feels comfortable and safe (in her own home, on her own land, with her person). The problem is that we adopted another 2 dogs once we had the space, and she has not adjusted well. She is very dominant, and initiates conflict with our other dogs. which has caused some fights to break out. For that reason, she cannot be housed with other dogs if they are at all dominant. Preferably, she would live in a home without other dogs. And we can't provide that. She also does not do well on leash around strangers or other dogs without a muzzle, as her fear kicks in, causing her to bark uncontrollably. We believe that there is hope for her, but we do not have the lifestyle that she needs to thrive, which we believe is a more remote situation where there is less stimulation, and fewer people / dogs. She is smart, food motivated, and sweet. She can do all sorts of tricks, and loves fetch. If you get her one on one, she will win your heart over in a second. I think she would do very well with a single woman or couple, with no children or other dogs in the house. Please consider Filia, because she is truly sweet and just needs the right situation to thrive.
