Name: Tilton Nickname: Tilt Age: 6.5 years Breed: Border Collie mix Sex: 45#, medium, male, neutered Location: Berks County, PA Vet Information: Tilton is up to date on vaccinations. A while back, he had tested positive for heartworm, but he has already been treated successfully, and recently again tested negative. Tilton is neutered and microchipped. He is completely blind due to unknown causes. He is tolerant of grooming and nail trims. In the past, Titlton ate Nature's Balance to help him with some stomach sensitivities causing diarrhea. He has not experienced any diarrhea recently, and he is eating Purina One now. Shelter/Foster Report: Tilton was transferred in from another rescue in the south to his current shelter. He has been in foster care since April 2021. Tilton is generally dog friendly. He, along with more than thirteen other dogs, has been residing in a foster home affiliated with the shelter seeking placement for them. The shelter has no other foster home options available. Tilton is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. He previously had the full run of the house, but, due to a conflict with just one of the thirteen other dogs in the foster home, he had to be separated to prevent further issues. Recently, Tilton has been brought back to the shelter to have a new behavioral assessment, and they report that he has made leaps and bounds since he first arrived prior to going into foster care! Instead of needing to be carried, Tilton has worked hard on his leash walking skills, and he now does well on a leash and even better with a leash and harness! He is navigating himself very well around rooms. Tilton is really content hanging out in their 'dog kitchen/office space'. When introduced to other dogs at the shelter, he did well! The thought is that thirteen dogs in one house was just too much for Tilton and too stressful, especially considering that he is blind. Tilton is mainly housebroken. He still has accidents sometimes when he is overwhelmed, but this has been improving! Tilton enjoys resting and sleeping on a bed upstairs in his foster home. He will come downstairs when he is called to go outside. Tilton can be easily startled and shy at times, but Tilton is good with men, women, male dogs, and female dogs. Tilton is not possessive with treats, toys, or food. Tilton gets along with all of the many dogs in his foster home except one, whom Tilton had shown aggression toward one time in the past year. According to his foster parent, Tilton had left punctures on the other dog, and it appeared to be over a high value situation, when Tilton was laying on his bed and felt the need to defend his space. Tilton's shelter advocate would like you to know, 'It takes him a while to adjust to new environments, but we do not feel he was given a fair chance in the current foster home. He may do best in a home that is quieter and lower key.' Does anyone have room for sweet Tilton? **Owner Surrender/Shelter Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are in a shelter/shelter affiliated foster home and we can make no guarantees regarding their temperament.** Please email [email protected] if you are interested in this sweetheart.
