About Charlie

Charlie came into our yard as a stray. I don't think he was alone for long bc he was in good shape but he had no collar/tags/microchip and we had no luck finding his owners after many different attempts. He seems to be around 6 months - 1 year old. He is already about 45 lbs. This is a dog that only someone who has had a lot of experience raising a puppy and everything that comes with would be a good match for. He has some behavioral issues that I'm not sure are puppy issues or due to him having stressful circumstances. He's not aggressive at all but he is super codependent and seems to have some separation anxiety. It is hard to leave him alone and he'll need someone with the time and patience to help him work those issues out. He has a tendency to jump up on ppl. We got his DNA results and he had a mix of several breeds but one of the more prominent was Australian cattle dog so he has herding tendencies - where he'll literally use his body to try to 'herd' ppl. We had him work with a trainer for a few weeks and it was incredible how smart he was but he needs someone who will keep up with his trainings and give him the discipline he needs. This dog is definitely a challenge and needs someone willing to possibly get him more training and then be extremely strict with keeping him in his routines. He is so sweet and calm when given lots of proper training and exercise but it won't be easy and I need someone who won't give up on him because moving him around is only adding to his stress and abandonment issues. He is a working dog and would be a great match for someone very active and who enjoys doing different mental & physical exercises with him. He is potty trained.
