About Sweety

American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

I found Sweety in a dumpster when she was about 2 months old. This is very hard for me to have to look for her a new home, however I cannot allow her to injure my children. Sweety has had a litter of puppies (8) with my great pyrenes/German Shepard. Sweety was my husband and I's first baby, then we had tiny humans (2) and after adding our great pyrenes to the mix and them having puppies, our pact just kept growing. Today I feel it's become very stressful for Sweety, she's become easily agitated with our 2-year-old lately. She has also taken out 2 of my chickens of the 5 that I had. When I called animal control, they explained to me that it was in her natural instinct that anything smaller than her is prey. She definitely has shown that, we have 3 cats, and she chases them. At first, I thought it was playful, however after explanation, its hunting. Sweety does NOT do well with other female dogs. She's not used to going out in public on the leash at all, when we go out with her, we go out on hiking trails and as we usually stick to the secluded ones, she's always known to run free on the trail. When she's on the lead in our backyard she gets very agitated and will communicate all day until she is able to roam free again. Sweety is very sensitive when it comes to her paws, I truly am unsure why, if it's her breed or not, however my daughter thinks it's a game when trying to explain we cannot grab Sweety's paws, keeping Sweety away, I feel will make her more irritable and today after she gave a physcial warning nip to my daughter I have to unfortuantely find a new home for her. I am hoping to place her in the right home through a rescue as I do not want her in a shelter or end up as a bait dog. Her breed is very restricted in some areas as well. As mentioned in the begining, I rescued her from the dumpster, so this is truly hard, its not fair to her or my daughter should a horrible event occur, so Im truly hoping to find her a good loving forever home as I and my husband truly tried to be her forever home.
