About Brodie

Brodie is one of a kind--gorgeous, playful, yet deeply fearful--all in an 11-lb. package. Just 1 year old, sweet Brodie had a rough start in life. Covered in fleas and full of worms, the handsome rattie mix was found in a long-abandoned home. Once he was cleaned up and fed, Brodie showed his gratitude by showering his rescuer with kisses and running 'zoomies' at lightning fast speed. However, the neglect the pup had experienced left some marks on his still developing personality. Brodie takes time to warm up to new people, and depending on the person, it can take a LOT of time. Brodie has his own system for determining who is allowed into his circle of trust and the pace of that process. Allowing Brodie space and agency to decide when and how to engage with new people helps him feel more secure. The patience and selflessness required to put Brodie's need to feel safe above the personal desire to pet him would preclude having any young children in his home. Brodie walks nicely on a leash, and he's doing well with house-training. He asks to go out, even in the middle of night if needed. He follows a consistent potty schedule, which reduces chances of indoor accidents. While not a fan of the crate at bedtime, he's fine with it for car travel. He's a great passenger in the crate or in the dog car seat. He enjoys playing with the dogs in his foster home and has started to play with toys. With his blue merle coat and amazing eyes--each eye is half brown and half blue--Brodie is great to look at, and with his newfound interest in toys, he's great fun to play with!
