About Elsa

Meet Elsa! It is always amazing to us that these little loves can go through so much and still want to love unconditionally! Little Miss Elsa is about a 10 month old mix (and we are guessing) of a Westie and Poodle or Maltese. She has a slightly curly/wavy like a Poodle but not as soft and closer to a Terrier coat although not rough. She does not shed. She has tan and brown in her coat although it is hard to see in photos. She weighs in about 10 to 12 pounds and is done growing. She came to us from a family who took her in from another family who took her in from an original family. The original family moved and was just going to put her out on the street so a friend stepped up to take her. But then that person decided she did not want to look after her and then that person's daughter stepped in to make sure she did not wind up on the street or at a shelter. From there we stepped in and she currently resides in a foster home with small dogs, large dogs and cats. Totally fine with everyone. She was pretty skinny but has been steadily putting on weight. She is housebroken but does not want to be outside without her person. She will connect to anyone new very quickly. Her best home would more than likely be with a retired couple who is active, likes a good cuddle and to take walks and has the time to let her know she won't be abandoned again. As she is fine with other dogs and cats and with children as well. Her adoption fee includes: 1. Her spay 2. Current vaccinations including rabies 3. Deworming 4. Microchip 5. Grooming 6. Harness and leash 7. Starter food An adoption fee does apply. As we prescreen via email ONLY (we do NOT make or receive phone calls in the pre-screening phase) please tell us a bit about you such as: 1. Your lifestyle, activity level and work schedule. 2. If you do not currently have a pet how you will keep Elsa socialized with other dogs Some notes to consider before applying for Elsa. 1.. Elsa is a 10 month old young dog. Please make sure that everyone is on board and ready for the responsibility of a young dog. She is housebroken but with all dogs consistent training is very important. 2. Please make sure you are ready to adopt before coming to see our adoptable dogs. We are a foster based rescue and do not have the space to hold dogs for a couple of weeks while you vacation or make your way to California to come and adopt. We will adopt out of state but ONLY if the potential adopter comes here to adopt in person and that is after a screening by Skype. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS EVER. 3. We are often inundated with emails about our adoptable dogs and try as we might to make everyone happy it is nearly impossible with only one dog and sometimes up to 50 potential families. The more information you provide in your email to us the quicker we will get back to you. If you have written to us before about a particular dog and did not receive a response please do try again. We try to answer every email but it is not always possible. Every dog has different home requirements that we search for so sometimes you are the right fit for the dog we are trying to place. 4. PLEASE do NOT send more than one email. It slows down the process. 5. We do not make appointments for people to just come 'see' the dogs available.
