This young, friendly 63 lb lab mix needs an adopter, foster and or rescue to step up ASAP before he is killed at the Riverside Shelter. We were already told he needs a commitment like yesterday as he is red listed and could be killed without further warning. Volunteers are calling him Dutton and video of him posted on facebook shows a tail wagging boy approaching the kennel fence (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=588628652388378 ). Those who met or know him said he is playful and nice. However, the shelter had told people he had behavior issues which is misleading and sadly scared people off. We therefore had the shelter just reassess him on 11/28 and they said, 'Dog was front of kennel, soliciting attention, loose and wiggly body, tail wagging. Dog remained social throughout assessment on 11/28. ' However, we also just learned he did not get along with two of his kennel mates before, so they are recommending no other dogs at this time, and that is perhaps why he was listed as behavior issues. Dutton is listed as being only three years old and he is unneutered, so confining him in a small kennel with another stray male can easily lead to problems. The shelter said they are offering free neutering right now for a rescue or an adopter.
