About Red

Adoption Fee: $300
Border Collie / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Red is 38 lb, 3 yr old stunning and a sweet heart Border Collie/Aussie w a pinch of Blue Heeler looking for his fantastic Foster to Adopt Partner. He is part of our Owner Surrender program and he loves his family but they realized he needs more engagement than they have time for. Red is for a dog savvy experienced/border collie experienced adopters with a large yard and no apartments. I do think Red has agility potential, maybe Frisbee or even sheep work; his movements are spot on when he is determined with focus on his object. He can get antsy if not given enough to do and including some fun games and structure time to his leash walks and structured games on the leash and fetching which he really likes. Red was raised with children which he really loves but he is more than a family dog. It does take him a little time to warm up and he needs his human to be his leader. He loves dogs and would like to have a herding pack even a Corgi or Doxi and small dogs mixed in or for pack walks/play time. He won't do well with dogs too much larger than him as he has a tiny frame and they can be a little scary to him but I think a calm confident Pyr or Collie he would enjoy. We are looking for an inside only home that will provide exercise and metal stimulation before a work day with a break during the day (dog walker or come home for lunch) and similar structure and activity when your home from work than he can settle for some TV time. He rides well in the car and can travel for the right home. He also goes to the groomer and enjoys that and enjoyed hanging out at large farmers market in Houston and walks in the city. Red is a very versatile dog given stimulation and a soft approach. An ideal home is one that can provide him his doggie time, exercise his mind and body, large yard w a 6 foot wooden fence, no cats, children 10 and up and I would like to see him enrolled in a Sport or Obedience Classes (non pet stores). His adoption donation is $300 with an application to adopt, home visit if applicable and he can travel for the right home at the adopter's expense
