About Henley

Henley is a sweet and loving 8-year old, 68-pound Yellow Labrador Retriever located in Chestnut Hill, MA. Though a young senior, Henley is still an active and energetic dog. While friendly and fun-loving, Henley sometimes likes having 'me time' where she can sleep and eat in peace. She's not a clingy type of dog, but does like affection and belly rubs. Henley knows the sit, down, come, and heel commands pretty well. She is highly treat-motivated to learn new things. She will need training with her new person because when she's excited she likes to jump on people. She has been evaluated and her trainer has tips for managing this and other behaviors. Henley loves her toys, especially stuffed animals and she loves napping in the sun by a window. She respects her home and can be left to roam when left alone. She enjoys walks in the neighborhood and in the woods, and loves to smell everything. She also enjoys swimming and playing in the snow. Henley is fine riding in a car. When visitors come, they should give Henley time to feel comfortable. Henley enjoys pack walks and is on a dog walking team with various owners and their dogs. Though she's good with dogs in general, we believe she will do her best as your only furkid. She has no experience with cats or other animals. She'd love time outdoors for walks, playtime, and being leash free within a fenced-in yard or on a farm. Henley is being rehomed after becoming 'grumpy' at her former home. During the pandemic when parents and kids were home all the time, she grew growly soon after the family's routine changed. During this time she also bit a chihuahua to cause stitches. Please Note: Henley sometimes acts conflicted for no apparent reason. At times she likes to be petted, while other times she is uncomfortable and tells you so by growling and/or showing teeth. Her owners will understand that it's not personal and just let her be when she doesn't want to be touched. For this reason, Henley is looking for a quiet, consistent environment because a bustling home can be unsettling for her. Though she lives with kids now, her next chapter will have only adults. Her new pet parents will be low-key and have experience with a dog in need of a daily routine.
