Name: Buddy Age: approx. 2 years old Breed: Pit Bull Terrier mix Sex: 45# (Male, neutered) Location: Hernando County, FL Vet Information: Up to date on vaccinations except for one booster and tested heartworm negative. Buddy is neutered and microchipped already. He was already blind when found as a stray about six months ago. Per veterinarian, his blindness could be congenital. His owner believes he sees light but is unsure. Since being with his current owner, Buddy has gained 20 pounds, been successfully treated for hookworms, and has been put on flea prevention. Owner report: Buddy is an indoor dog with the run of the house. He is reported to be housebroken but not leash trained. He listens when his name is called. His owner describes Buddy as nervous at times, but he is good with men, women, teenagers, and small female dogs. Buddy currently lives with a young child, and his owner believes that he would do better in a home without small children. He also lives with two other dogs, one large male and one small female. Buddy is not possessive with treats, toys, or food. While at first he did not, recently Buddy has shown some aggression by snipping at their other dogs when he feels that he is in danger. His owner says that when their other dogs growl or run by him barking, Buddy will sometimes mistake it as aggression. Buddy's owner feels that he adapts well to new situations and surroundings since they have moved items in the home, and Buddy has picked up the changes well. He also uses a doggie door. Buddy's owner writes, 'Buddy is such a sweet boy. It hurts my heart to have to rehome him. We will want to make sure he is going to a very very good home. If we did not have children we would 1000% keep him, but rehoming seems to be the best option not only for us but for Buddy. We know he means well and can be better if he had the proper training, but unfortunately we can not give him that time for proper training. We hope to find a home that has the time and patience with no children to give him the training he needs.' Does anyone have room for affectionate Buddy? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
