Belgian Malinois

I found this dog about three months ago wandering some backroads nearing the interstate. He has no chip, and no one claimed ownership. I have been taking care of him ever since. I had absolutely no prior knowledge of this breed, but quickly realized what I was in for. This is a highly intelligent, hyperactive working breed that requires loads of professional training and attention.. I have neither the time, nor experience to undertake such a large responsibility. If not properly cared for, these dogs can become highly destructive and aggressive. That being said, I will only consider releasing custody of this pup to someone who has experience with this breed.. preferably a professional but not exclusively. I'm desperate to rehome this dog, but I will do my best and continue to take care of him until the right person is found. So here's what I know about him. Please read to the end. - Vet said he's around 2 years old. - He was around 45 lbs when last weighed.. Has bulked up a bit since. - He's not fixed and has no chip. - He's extremely active. I cannot emphasize this enough. - Little to no obedience training although we have improved that quite a bit over the past few months. - He is not housebroken. We have also improved on this quite a bit but he will still hike his leg occasionally. - He will enter the crate upon command. - He becomes very stubborn on a leash. - Appears to have never been properly socialized. He is very paranoid towards others which doesn't help that he's in the crate 8+ hours a day while we are at work. He doesn't bark aggressively, but more so fearfully and his hair stands up. - He does appear to be good with other dogs. I have a very well behaved medium sized mutt that's about 6 years old. They are separated almost 100% of the time due to the fact that the malinois is just so hyper. He wants to wrestle, play, and herd my dog into corners.. He's just relentless but does not seem to be aggressive towards dogs. - He might be aggressive towards cats. He fixates on my cat every time he's around.. he whimpers and runs in circles.. I've also seen him licking his lips. - He does not like being told NO.. He gets defensive and will bark with bared teeth.. I assume due to some bad experience with his previous owner. He hasn't aggressively bit, but if he had it in him, I could see that being the trigger. He can be a little nippy when he's excited. All in all this pup is high energy and DEFENSIVE, not AGGRESSIVE. He's a very sweet dog, loves to fetch and tug, just needs the proper person to train and facilitate him. My name is Joseph and you can contact me anytime. Serious inquires only please.
