About Shandy

Shandy is a 2 year old, 10 pound terrier mix who was spotted living in the woods by one of our prior adopters. After a few days of people seeing her and not being able to catch her, she messaged us for help. Francine went out there the next day and dog-whispered her to safety! She was posted, but no one stepped forward to claim her and she's now ready for a new home! Shandy is a super sweet, generally calm little girl. She is very cuddly and loves to be on a lap getting petted and she loves tummy rubs. She follows her person from room to room, and will jump up on your legs as you walk. She loves to be held and carried! At night she has to snuggle up right next to you and sleeps quietly all night long. Shandy is good with other dogs, both big and small. She does not display any type of attitude when sharing a lap and will back off from a food bowl if another dog approaches. Whoever adopts her needs to watch that because she is a bit underweight and needs to eat! Shandy will nap with another pup and sometimes play with one too and has also played with small stuffed toys. She would be fine as an only dog and definitely needs to be in a home where she is not left alone a lot. She is not good with cats and will bark, growl, and run at them. She's been around older kids and was fine, and would likely love the attention of some older children in the home. Shandy has good energy and happily prances around the home wherever you go! She is a jumper and can clear a doggy gate or low fence easily. Shandy likes to sniff around outside and nap in the sunshine. Because she was found as a stray we would prefer a fenced yard, but it's not absolutely required for the right home. Shandy appears to be mostly housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door. She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Her spay will be scheduled at one of our vets soon and is covered by the rescue.
