About Jack

This cutie is Jack! He is an adorable scruffy little 1.5 year old, 10.4 pound Jack Russell Shih Tzu mix who was owner surrendered to the rescue. Jack seems to be a friendly happy dog who will be very bonded to his owner. While he does love to be with his person, he's not needy. Jack will be happy to sit on the back of your chair or next to you to on the couch without having to be in your lap. He loves sleeping in the big bed and burrowing under the covers at night. Jack would be good with another dog or by himself. That said he most likely will not be good in a home with a more dominant male and he can be protective of his person. Jack Russells do have a reputation for chasing cats, but he's a mix and has not been tested with one so we don't know how he would be. We believe he will get along just fine with kids, but he hasn't been tested with those either so we would prefer a home with older children to be safe. Jack likes to go on car rides and is doing better with his potty training but still needs a little more work. He is not leash trained and does know how to use a doggie door. He enjoys exploring outside and needs a home with a fenced yard. He will bark at strangers but when you correct him he will quiet down. Jack has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up-to-date on shots, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. His neuter will be scheduled at one of our vet soon and is covered by the rescue.
