About Paisley

Adoption Fee: $237.38
German Shorthaired Pointer / Bulldog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Paisley is a super sweet and loving gal who is about a year and a half old; she needs to find a home with a male canine buddy. She was surrendered to the shelter (the first time) because she was not getting along with the other female dog in the house. She was briefly adopted but the family soon realized she has some separation anxiety issues and brought her back to WCHS. To combat this, the shelter is requiring that she goes to a home with a male dog friend who will help keep her company and relieve her angst. Paisley feels cats are meant to chase and torment so no felines in the home for her. She does adore humans so her family could include gentle and respectful children of any age. WCHS has been helping Paisley learn that a crate is not a scary place, but rather a cozy den where she can feel safe and chill out when her family is away. Her family will need to provide lots of exercise because she is a super high energy girl; she cannot live with a family in a communal setting such as a condo or apartment. She is looking for a patient person who will provide positive training and structure plus offer opportunities to give her brain a workout. In her previous home she practiced scratching at the door to indicate she needed to go outside, but Paisley is still working on mastering house-training. When she first gets to her new home it would be wise to give her lots of opportunities to go outside on a regular schedule until she learns the lay of the land and you learn her signals. WCHS also suggests the 'umbilical cord' method to help with house training so she can be watched carefully and ushered outside quickly. With a routine, lots of yummy treats and praise when she goes potty outside is sure to improve her house-training skills. Paisley is excellent with all sorts of handling and even though she weighs about 40 pounds she loves to lay in your lap for snuggles and cuddles. Paisley would love a long walk each day and has an adventurous spirit; she is a strong girl and needs practice with proper leash walking. She would be happy keeping her brain busy by learning obedience, focus, nose-work, touch or dog parkour. A true Wisconsinite, she loves cheese and would be highly motivated by that delicacy in her training sessions. Paisley is a real beauty with a touch of whimsey and would be fabulous addition to your home. Come by to meet her in person, soak in her exuberance and delightful personality and make plans for your future together.
