About Josh

Josh is one-year-old red merle Aussiedoodle who weighs 40 lbs. He is being fostered in Sarasota County, FL. Josh is looking for is forever home with an active household. He is still puppy like, and because of his playful nature would do best in a home with children 10 years of age and older. Josh requires a fenced in yard to play fetch and other games with his family. He is not an apartment dog. Josh loves to play with his toys around his people. He gets along with most dogs and loves our barn cat who rubs all over him. If you want to be friends with Josh throw a toy for him to bring back to you. He will sit till you throw it again and now you are pals. Josh can live with a companion dog or not. He is able to entertain himself with his toys and his people. Josh is house trained, crate trained, walks well with harness and leash, is microchipped, clicker trained in beginning and some advanced behaviors, neutered, and heart worm negative. He has been on heart worm, flea and tick prevention since he has been in the rescue. Josh is up to date on all of his vaccines. Josh does not shed his coat so will need to go to groomer. Josh loves car rides to Tractor Supply and the pet store where he gets to pick out his own toy which he carry's around and sleeps with in his crate at night. In the morning Josh can be very excited to see you and when coming out of his crate may jump up in air with excitement. We are working on sit as an alternative behavior. Josh was treated harshly by a shock collar trainer at 12 weeks of age and a prong collar trainer at the age of 14 weeks of age. He came to my home terrified and afraid of all people at 17 weeks. Since then he has blossomed into a loving, kind young dog who only wants to please. He is treat motivated and very intelligent. His favorite chews are Buffalo horns. Favorite toys are all and any. Josh is very sweet and has a gentle trusting personality. He will only go to a home that is his perfect fit.
