About Ernie

Adoption Fee: $325
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Ernie-Hunk of Love! Ernie is a find- a furry, friendly, fun treasured find for the experienced lover of all things Aussie. His expressive face gives away his fun-loving, big-hearted personality. This approximately 4-year-old bob tail black tricolor is all Australian Shepherd with a playful disposition and marshmallow center. If you understand the herding temperament and are looking for a lifetime Best Friend to give your time and heart to, we invite you to read further. Ernie came to rescue after his Very Best Friend passed away. The poor fella was at a loss when he first went to Foster Mom. With a little time and a lot of love, Ernie's bright self soon shone. He is ready to bond with a new family and settle into his Forever Home-Of-My-Own. Ernie enjoys life! His Foster home is filled with love, canines, and felines. He revels in backyard antics with folks and friends-loafing in the pool or doggy pond or playing fetch with his poochy tennis ball. Oops! Make that FETCH! Ball and Bestie, yes please! Life is grand with a ball plan. In fact, Ernie is such a fetch fanatic that only an immovable object (eg, tree) deters him from retrieving the runaway orb. Count on the prize pup to take the initiative to get a good game going anytime, anywhere. Ernie will keep offering the ball until it is, inevitably, thrown for a new round. This quirky, funny fun fellow may enjoy some backyard agility games. Ernie's big heart is as adorable as his antics. Foster Mom says he is a 'sweet, and sensitive' Love Hunk. He's a big mush! Ernie has been known to offer comfort cuddles when his Person is sad. He eagerly accepts every invitation to snuggle up on the couch or recliner. The responsive, amiable canine take his cue from the confident guidance of the Person he has learned to trust and connect with. Ernie has his house manners and does great on leash. He's never been crated at his foster home. He's a gentleman when family is gone, looking after the house with a couple of other pup pals. Ernie enthusiastically leaps into the truck for bye-byes-ready-set, let's go! Ernie is a hunky hug of boy. He came to Foster Mom a bit oversized, but thanks to a consistent healthy diet and regular activity, he is now around 75 pounds and counting down. His adopter will want to keep him on a fit lifestyle. This hunk's Forever Love will have herding breed experience. Ernie would be a great companion and confidant of someone who works from home. He'd be awesome company for folks who want a smart canine to spend lots of free time with and able to commit to engage in intentional activity, and further training. He's been hanging out with his Foster Mom's canines, and felines-he'd do well with medium size dogs who enjoy play. Ernie has chased the cats on occasion, but slow introductions, fun distractions and 'leave it' training should help with that. He hasn't been around children as far we know. He's an enthusiastic fella who doesn't always know his own frolicking force so should be great with kids 10 and up who understand and respect dogs. Introductions with new people, including children, places and cats MUST be slow and monitored. A fence is preferred but may not be necessary for the right Aussie savvy adopter.
